Places at Amethyst Sixth Form are allocated following the application deadline date and notified by letter. Offers are all subject to meeting the following conditions:
Generic Sixth Form entrance criteria:
- To study for the equivalent of 3 A-levels requires a GCSE APS average point score of 46 (average B grade) or greater (these should be gained in a minimum of 5 separate GCSE subjects). Students should have at least a grade 5 in GCSE English and mathematics for acceptance on to A Level courses.
- To study for 3 BTEC courses would require a GCSE APS average point score of 40 (average C grade) or above and a minimum of five GCSE (or equivalent courses). In addition, L3 BTEC subjects may require a minimum of grade 5 in GCSE English Language and mathematics.
Subject specific entrance criteria:
Specific criteria for individual areas vary according to the demands of the subject, most require a Grade B (6) in the same subject to continue at A Level, with the exception of mathematics which requires a Level 7.
The specific subject requirements will be discussed at interview and offer stage.
Where subjects are offered at Wolverhampton consortium schools they may apply different criteria and will be discussed at interview and offer stage.
