An Introduction to Court Room SkillsIn this session, aspiring lawyers will have the opportunity to learn about court procedure and etiquette by taking part in courtroom proceedings they will be able to assess the merits of a case and reach a decision and discuss their reasons. Students will have the opportunity to take on the roles of legal professionals, judge or jury within a court process. The session will provide students with a real insight into working within the criminal justice system and the role of legal professionals in this process. It will also enable students to discover characteristics, skills and aptitudes needed to pursue a law career.Law in a Changing WorldThis session will introduce some real-life problems such as drones, revenge porn, organ transplantation, that society has encountered in recent times and will consider why and how the law has been used to seek a solution to these real-life problems. Students will be able to consider some new situations where changes in the law have been suggested, such as knife crime, divorce, regulation of the internet. Students will also have the opportunity to discuss why a change in the law may be beneficial and to think about challenges this presents. The session will help students consider how the law keeps pace with changes in technology and society and understand the role of law in society and in promoting and keeping pace with social change.
